Ilana Wajcberg (São Paulo, Brasil, 1970) é artista visual. Formada em Arquitetura, realizou estudos de M.F.A. na Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
Sua pesquisa artística concentra-se na compreensão do feminino, emergindo de experiências pessoais e entrelaçando elementos da arquitetura e da natureza em pinturas de caráter autobiográfico. A natureza ocupa um papel central em seu trabalho, evidenciada pelo uso de formas orgânicas e cores não saturadas.
Nos últimos anos, sua prática tem se voltado para as transformações ocorridas em seu corpo e em seu ser após tornar-se mãe. Embora tenha origem autobiográfica, sua obra busca articular uma experiência feminina mais ampla e universal.
Wajcberg frequentemente incorpora motivos botânicos para sugerir paisagens oníricas e abstratas que desfocam as fronteiras entre ilusão e realidade. Ao longo dos anos, Ilana desenvolveu diversas séries de pintura que convergiram para uma pesquisa artística contínua, constituindo a base de seus trabalhos atuais na série Feminine Deep.
Participou de exposições individuais e coletivas, incluindo Means and Processes no Museu de Itu, Brasil, além de outras mostras individuais e coletivas.
Atualmente, também explora novos materiais, como cerâmica e trabalhos têxteis, expandindo sua linguagem artística para além da pintura e aprofundando sua investigação sobre materialidade, forma e espaço.
DECLARAÇÃO DE ARTISTA
Minha pintura nasce como campo de atravessamento onde memórias visuais, experiências íntimas e fragmentos de paisagem se entrelaçam em silêncio. É pela escuta e pela intuição que conduzo meu gesto, em busca de perceber o que pulsa entre corpo, natureza e tempo.
A aquarela sobre papel é meu território de experimentação inicial. Com ela, exploro a transparência da tinta, o velamento das camadas e a fluidez dos contornos caminhos que me permitem compreender e dar vazão às ideias. Muitas dessas aquarelas se tornam estudos para as obras em pintura a óleo, que carrega essas primeiras intenções para a solidez da tela, onde a cor adquire densidade e a matéria se expande.
As atmosferas resultantes flutuam entre o figurativo e o abstrato, propondo um tempo outro suspenso, imaginado, quase sonhado. As paisagens, reais ou inventadas, surgem não como representação literal, mas como matéria viva e simbólica uma geografia de afetos. A organicidade da natureza e os ciclos que a regem orientam minha escrita visual: feita de curvas, repetições, variações cromáticas e uma paleta que se move entre o sussurro e o grito, entre o acalanto e o espanto.
A exuberância da vegetação brasileira, com suas formas que escorrem e se expandem, inspira a construção das imagens e reforça o elo entre corpo e território. Cada pintura é vestígio sensível de atravessamentos: registros do que vibra entre o visível e o invisível, o dentro e o fora.
A pintura, para mim, é escuta. É lugar de transposição poética da experiência.
Movida por uma paixão antiga pela arquitetura, pela botânica e pelos arquétipos do universo feminino.
Ilana Wajcberg (São Paulo, Brazil, 1970) is a visual artist. She holds a degree in Architecture and pursued M.F.A. studies at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
Her artistic research focuses on the understanding of the feminine, emerging from personal experience and interwoven with elements of architecture and nature in autobiographical paintings.
Nature plays a central role in her work and is emphasized through the use of organic forms and non-saturated colors. In recent years, her practice has centered on the transformations that occurred in her body and being after becoming a mother. Although autobiographical in origin, her work seeks to articulate a broader and universal feminine experience.
Wajcberg frequently incorporates botanical motifs to suggest dreamlike and abstract landscapes that blur the boundaries between illusion and reality. Over the years, Ilana has developed several painting series that have converged into an ongoing artistic research, forming the foundation of her current works in the series Feminine Deep.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions, including Means and Processes at the Museum of Itu, Brazil , Group and solo exhibitions.
Currently, she is also exploring new materials such as ceramics and textile works, expanding her artistic language beyond painting and deepening her investigation into materiality, form, and space.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My painting emerges as a field of crossings where visual memories, intimate experiences, and fragments of landscape silently intertwine. It is through listening and intuition that I guide my gesture, seeking to perceive what pulses between body, nature, and time.
Watercolor on paper is my initial territory of experimentation. With it, I explore the transparency of the pigment, the veiling of layers, and the fluidity of contours pathways that allow me to understand and give form to ideas. Many of these watercolors become studies for oil paintings, which carry those initial intentions into the solidity of the canvas, where color gains density and matter expands.
The resulting atmospheres float between figuration and abstraction, proposing an alternate time suspended, imagined, almost dreamlike.
The landscapes, whether real or imagined, appear not as literal representations, but as living and symbolic matter a geography of affections. The organicity of nature and its governing cycles guide my visual language: composed of curves, repetitions, chromatic variations, and a palette that moves between whisper and cry, between comfort and awe.
The exuberance of Brazilian vegetation, with its forms that spill and expand, inspires the construction of images and reinforces the bond between body and territory. Each painting is a sensitive trace of crossings: records of what vibrates between the visible and the invisible, the inner and the outer. Painting, for me, is a form of listening. It is a space for poetic transposition of experience.
